PETA president Ingrid Newkirk said in a statement that late Sir Christopher Lee was a kind-hearted person behind the on-screen villain actor.

Newkirk wrote in an official statement giving tribute to the late actor and longtime animal rights activist that it was a privilege to work with the Hollywood legend on their campaign to end cruel heart-disease experiments on animals and encourage everyone to support charities that don't hurt and kill animals, Contactmusic has reported.

Lee passed away on June 7 following three weeks of treatment for heart failure and respiratory problems, but his loss was made public on June 11.
