ANI New Delhi

The Congress Party on Tuesday held Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal responsible for the price rise.

"From the time the Modi government has come and the Kejriwal government has come to power, the prices are rising. Before the elections, the AAP had put advertisements saying that in their tenure of 50 days, the prices of commodities had fallen. This means, that he was claiming credit for reduction in prices," said Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit.

"Similarly, even Modi ji said when the price of pulses had reached Rs. 60 and Rs. 70, 'I will reduce it'. Today pulses are priced at Rs. 160-170-180. Where the price of petrol has reduced by three times in the world, India is still selling it at Rs 50-60," he added.

Retail inflation rose to 4.41 percent in September this year, due to costlier food items in general, and pulses and beverages in particular. Food inflation rose to 3.88 per cent in September, from 2.2 per cent in August.
