Prime MInister Narendra Modi has left Frankfurt for New York, where he will address the 69th session of the UN General Assembly tomorrow.
Mr. Modi will begin his day tomorrow by paying tributes at the 9/11 memorial and museum. This will be followed with a meeting with United Nations Chief Ban Ki Moon at the UN headquarters in New York.
The Prime Minister will address the UNGA at around 8 p.m. Indian Standard time.
The theme of the UNGA is delivering and implementing a transformative Post-2015 development Agenda. There will be a number of high level events on the sidelines of the inaugural session on issues like climate change, population and development, indigenous people and UN peacekeeping.
At the United Nations, India is expected to call for concerted multilateral action to meet the challenges like fragile global economy, terrorism, Ebola health crisis, climate change and poverty.
India is likely to contribute constructively to the negotiations on the post 2015 development agenda which is going to replace the Millennium Development Goal. It will also actively indulge in discussions on Financing for Development.
India is also expected to press for an early reform of united Nations, expansion of the Security council and a text based process for negotiations in inter-governmental negotiations.
India will press for making poverty eradication. Issues like housing, affordable energy, health care, education, employment and infrastructure gaps across the globe are likely to be addressed as well.
