The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Monday said that the primary purpose behind Prime Minister Narendra Modi's meeting with 14 leading CEOs in Hannover was to seek a feedback on how India could move ahead in terms of easing life for businessmen.
"Prime Minister had met with the 14 leading CEOs who have business interest in India as well as those who are keen on investing in India and his main focus was to seek feedback on how India can move ahead in terms of easing life for businessmen," MEA official spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin told ANI.
"This is the area PM has keenly focused on because he feels this is the key to attract more investment," he added.
"In the meeting with the CEOs, Prime Minister indicated that there is monitoring mechanism in place to review ease of business in India," added Akbaruddin.
Earlier, Prime Minister Modi vowed to remove unnecessary regulations and procedures to simplify the process of foreign investment in India, as well as to make it easier for other countries to initiate business deals, while inaugurating the Hannover Messe Fair, the world's biggest industrial fair.
He also attended a round table conference with German CEOs. Voith CEO Dr.Hubert Lienhard and CEO of Bombardier Transportation, Lutz Bertling, were among the few who held a meeting with the Prime Minister, earlier on Sunday.
The Prime Minister arrived in Hannover, earlier today, the second leg of his three-nation, nine-day tour, after concluding a successful visit to France.
