''Quiet Time Caucus'' meditation sessions latest fad among US Congressmen

Meditation sessions have become a hit pastime in Congress ahead of votes, which the Ohio Democrat, the organizer, called "Quiet Time Caucus."

Rep. Tim Ryan had begun with organizing two weekly meditation sessions at the start of the 113th Congress almost two years ago and one session had been open to staff and one to members of Congress, the New York Post reported.

Although the practice has been more common among Democrats than Republicans, it has recently been a wildly popular among the congressmen.

Ryan believes that meditation could also help politicians be better at their jobs, explaining and there was a value in having some quiet time before votes as it could help anyone make better decisions.

 

President Barack Obama is yet to join a session, but Ryan has given him a copy of his book, "A Mindful -Nation.
