In the wake of Pakistan's alarming slump in the ODI rankings, former cricketer-turned commentator Rameez Raja has stressed that the country's cricket structure needs a major overhaul in order to be highly competitive in the international cricket.

Pakistan dropped to ninth position in the rankings after suffering a 3-0 whitewash at the hands of Bangladesh in the recent ODI series.

Pakistan will fail to qualify for the 2017 Champions Trophy in England if they are unable to rise up in the rankings before September 30.

In the light of Pakistan's slump in the rankings, Raja said that it is a testament to how over the years the team and the system have refused to evolve and produce worthwhile talent to arrest the slide, the Express Tribune reported.

Describing the dip as 'embarrassing' and 'alarming', Raja expressed that he couldn't imagine Pakistan missing the next ICC Champions Trophy as it would be a massive low.

Raja insisted that Pakistan players, coaches and management require a change in strategy where they follow a fearless approach towards game, adding that they also need to be aggressive in the selection matters.
