Richie Benaud all over SCG without even being there

Former Australian cricketer and legendary commentator Richie Benaud's presence was not missed in the commentary stands as an army of Richie Benauds dominated the stands on the second day of the ongoing Sydney Test between Australia and India.

Michael 'Richie' Hennesey started the Rishies in 2010 along with 10 friends as a touching homage to the legendary cricket commentator Benaud, who had decided to retire from full-time commentary back then.

Hennesey, who steadily endured the impact of the 30-degree Sydney sun on his Benaud style pressed beige suit, said that if the players can handle the heat, then they can handle it as well, Sydney Morning Herald reported.

A group of 350 Benauds stormed the stands of the SCG on Wednesday, complete with their foam microphones, emblazoned with Channel Nine logos, ready to call every boundary the Australian batsmen stroked through cover.

The army of beige is now calling for day two of next year's Sydney Test to be officially named 'Richie day'. Steve 'Richie' Blacker hopes that by that time they would have the whole bay, that is 680 Richies.
