Delhi Police Commissioner B S Bassi on Wednesday said security in the city had been increased ahead of Diwali.
"I would like to assure all Delhites that the police force is there to help you out with all difficulties. We have put all the requisite securities in place so that you can enjoy this festival," Bassi told media persons here.
"We have beefed up security in market places and vulnerable areas of the city, and have made special arrangements at places like railway stations and bus terminuses," he added.
Extended greetings to the citizens of the national capital on behalf of the police force, Bassi also said that the force was working on the prevention of the sale of adulterated sweets in the city.
"The government has been clear on how to deal with adulterated sweets. We have taken out advertisements in all major newspapers to warn citizens. At the same time, our officers always accompany government employees who are working under the Prevention of Food Adulteration Act to help nab the perpetrators," he said.
According to reports, 25 quintals of adulterated milk products were seized in Dehradun earlier this week, while adulterated sweets worth Rs one crore are said to have been seized in Maharashtra.
