Syrian crisis: UN official warns Syria at 'dangerous tipping point'

A United Nations official has warned that Syria has now reached a "dangerous tipping point" after being embroiled in a four and a half-year-long civil war.

While addressing donors at an aid pledging conference in Kuwait, Antonio Guterres, UN High Commissioner for Refugees, said that it was clear that the world's response to the Syrian crisis couldn't be business as usual and the stability of its neighboring countries, such as, Jordan and Lebanon, was at risk, Fox News reported.

The UN's role would become more problematic soon as the gap widens between humanitarian needs and relief.

The number of Syrians refugees fleeing the country is expected to rise to 4.3 million by the end of the year.
