Forest officials arrested two men trying to smuggle snake venom in West Bengal.

The officials made the arrest after they were alerted. They ambushed the two accused at Buniadpur, near the Bangladesh border and made the arrest.

The seized king cobra venom was worth Rs. 50 crore.

"We chased down two vehicles in Buniadpur and arrested two men. We recovered three jars with snake venom from them with labels that say 'Made in France'," said Sanjoy Dutta, a Forest Ranger in Belakoba Forest, Jalpaiguri.

Five sample packets with the name 'Red Dragon' and 'Made in France' were also seized from their possession, along with a revolver.

Snake venom is used to treat snake bites. Reports say some compounds of the expensive venom are used in anti-cancer treatment.
