US urges India, Pak to resume formal dialogue

The US has urged India and Pakistan to resume formal talks which would be beneficial for the entire South Asian region, a State Department official said.
He said that Washington believed the entire South Asian region would benefit from reduction of tensions between India and Pakistan, the Dawn reported.
The official recalled that the US had always encouraged both sides to resume dialogue aimed at reducing tensions.
Prime Ministers Nawaz Sharif and Narendra Modi shook hands and sat down to talk to each other on Monday on the sidelines of a climate conference in Paris.
