The United States has expressed its concern over the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons' (OPCW) report released last week that said chlorine was used "systematically and repeatedly" as a weapon in attacks on villages in northern Syria earlier this year.
In a written statement released on Sunday, the U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry said that Washington was "gravely concerned" and that the Assad regime will be held accountable for such act in the international community. He also remarked that the report has raised concerns that continued use of chemical weapons on the Syrians by the regime could occur, reported ABC News.
The OPCW released its report on Wednesday and although, it did not assign responsibility, Kerry pointed out witness accounts that said helicopters were used in the attacks, which would indicate that the Assad regime carried them out.
