Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has reportedly inscribed his name in the annals of Champions League history with the fastest goal ever by an Englishman in his side's Group F clash with French club Marseille, which Arsenal won 2-0 on Tuesday.
Wilshere had only scored six goals in his entire Gunners career before he sank Marseille with his goal double at Emirates Stadium, with his opener after just 31 seconds, and finishing touch to a sublime move 20 minutes after the break, leaving the Premier League side within touching distance of the last 16.
According to the Mirror, Wilshere, who has now scored four goals this season, said that he has set himself a target of ten goals this year even though he has never scored that many in a season before, adding that he hoped to reach that target.
Arsenal, who is four points clear in the Premier League, now take the leaders' baton to Cardiff City on Saturday, the report added.
