Australian shares ended higher for fourth straight session on Monday, 08 January 2018, on the back of positive cues from Wall Street Friday, with shares of financial, telcos and healthcare sectors being notable gains offsetting a retreat for the miners and oil companies. The benchmark S&P/ASX 200 index ended the session 0.1% higher at 6,130.4 points. Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 629 to 570 and 349 ended unchanged. The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was up 4.45% to 9.826.
