Chambal Fertilisers slips after shutdown of ammonia-urea plant

Chambal Fertilisers & Chemicals fell 1.34% to Rs 58.75 at 14:15 IST on BSE after the company said that one of its urea plants in Rajasthan shut down on 23 August 2014 due to leakage in ammonia synthesis gas converter.

The company made the announcement during trading hours today, 26 August 2014.

Meanwhile, the BSE Sensex was down 85.40 points, or 0.32%, to 26,351.62.

On BSE, so far 60,000 shares were traded in the counter, compared with an average volume of 3.35 lakh shares in the past one quarter.

The stock hit a high of Rs 60.15 and a low of Rs 58.25 so far during the day. The stock hit a 52-week high of Rs 64.60 on 7 July 2014. The stock hit a 52-week low of Rs 30.60 on 28 August 2013.

 

The stock had outperformed the market over the past one month till 25 August 2014, rising 6.53% compared with 1.19% rise in the Sensex. The scrip had also outperformed the market in past one quarter, rising 13.21% as against Sensex's 7.06% rise.

The small-cap company has an equity capital of Rs 416.21 crore. Face value per share is Rs 10.

Chambal Fertilisers & Chemicals said it is likely to take two weeks before the plant resumes production.

Net profit of Chambal Fertilisers & Chemicals declined 28.48% to Rs 80.80 crore on 18.15% rise in net sales to Rs 1993.48 crore in Q1 June 2014 over Q1 June 2013.

Chambal Fertilisers & Chemicals is one of the largest private sector fertilizer producers in India.
