Energy stocks tumble
Energy stocks were trading in red, with the S&P BSE Energy index decreasing 153.29 points or 3.21% at 4623.11 at 13:53 IST.
Among the components of the S&P BSE Energy index, Aegis Logistics Ltd (down 6.52%), Panama Petrochem Ltd (down 4.96%),Goa Carbon Ltd (down 4.4%),Aban Offshore Ltd (down 4.15%),Alphageo (India) Ltd (down 3.88%), were the top losers. Among the other losers were Reliance Industries Ltd (down 3.85%), Oil India Ltd (down 2.96%), Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation Ltd (down 2.92%), Selan Explorations Technology Ltd (down 2.89%), and Gujarat Gas Ltd (down 2.36%).
On the other hand, Castrol India Ltd (up 2.22%), and Confidence Petroleum India Ltd (up 0.54%) turned up.
At 13:53 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 520.4 or 1.65% at 31040.82.
The Nifty 50 index was down 135.25 points or 1.46% at 9103.95.
The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was down 122.03 points or 1.15% at 10506.11.
The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was down 48.32 points or 1.28% at 3727.71.
On BSE,624 shares were trading in green, 1499 were trading in red and 150 were unchanged.
