FPIs step up selling

Net outflow of Rs 674.43 crore on 5 October 2017
Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) sold stocks worth a net Rs 674.43 crore into the secondary equity markets on 5 October 2017, compared with net outflow of Rs 508.39 crore on 4 October 2017. On 5 October 2017, the Sensex shed 79.68 points or 0.25% to settle at 31,592.03, its lowest closing level since 3 October 2017.
The net outflow of Rs 674.43 crore on 5 October 2017 was a result of gross purchases of Rs 3238.30 crore and gross sales of Rs 3912.73 crore.
There was a net outflow of Rs 5.53 crore into the 'primary market & others' category on 5 October 2017, which was a result of gross purchases of Rs 4.48 crore and gross sales of Rs 10.01 crore.
FPIs have sold stocks worth a net Rs 3176.62 crore into the secondary equity markets in October 2017 so far (till 5 October 2017). They had sold stocks worth a net Rs 19973.64 crore into the secondary equity markets in September 2017.
