The Hong Kong stock market closed marginally down in volatile trade on Monday, 30 October 2017, shrugging off broad gains across Asia in the wake of positive cues from Wall Street on Friday, as advances by energy producers were countered by declines for insurers and Chinese banks. The Hang Seng Index slipped 0.4%, or 102.66 points, to 28,336.19. The Hang Seng China Enterprises Index lost 0.7% to 11,563.38. Turnover increased slightly to HK$103.8 billion from HK$99.9 billion on Friday. Among the 50 blue chips, 12 rose and 35 fell, while remaining 3 stocks closed steady.
