India's Fiscal Deficit Hits Around 93% Of Current Fiscal's Target

India's fiscal deficit has widened in the first half of the current fiscal year. The fiscal deficit stood at Rs 6.51 lakh crore till September-end 2019, compared to Rs 5.95 lakh crore in the same period of the previous fiscal year. The first half's fiscal deficit is equivalent to 92.6% of the government's budget estimate for the fiscal, which was 95.3% in first half of FY19. Government of India has received Rs 8.37 lakh crore (40.19% of corresponding BE 19-20 of Total Receipts) upto September 2019. Total Expenditure incurred by Government of India is Rs 14.89 lakh crore (53.4% of corresponding BE 19-20).
