Key benchmark indices were trading with modest gains in afternoon trade. At 13:20 IST, the S&P was up 164.33 points or 0.41% at 39,948.85. The index was up 44.10 points or 0.37% at 11,966.80.

In broader market, the was up 0.54%, outperforming the Sensex. The S&P BSE SmallCap was down 0.11%, underperforming the Sensex.
