Nifty futures trade above 11,200 mark

India VIX climbs amid volatile session

The Nifty October 2019 futures was at 11,201.20, a premium of 26.45 points compared with the Nifty's closing of 11,174.75 in the cash market.

Turnover on the National Stock Exchange's futures & options (F&O) segment was Rs 9.76 lakh crore compared with Rs 27.91 lakh crore reported in the previous session.

In the cash market, the Nifty 50 index fell 139.25 points or 1.23% to settle at 11,174.75.

The NSE's India VIX, a gauge of market's expectation of volatility over the near term, rose 1.36% at 17.945.

On the options front, the Nifty option chain for 31 October 2019 expiry showed maximum call open interest (OI) of 26.67 lakh contracts at the 11,500 strike price. Maximum put OI of 24.40 lakh contracts was seen at 11,000 strike price. Options data suggested a trading range between 11,000 and 11,500 levels for the Nifty.

 

State Bank of India (SBI), HDFC and Bharat Petroleum Corporation (BPCL) were the top traded individual stock futures contracts in F&O segment of NSE. SBI October 2019 futures were at 250.25, compared with spot closing price of 249.65. HDFC October 2019 futures were at 1,981 compared with spot closing price of 1,975.05. BPCL October 2019 futures were at 517.75, compared with spot closing price of 514.

The October 2019 F&O contracts expires on 31 October 2019.
