Quick Wrap: Nifty Metal Index declines 6.80%, NIFTY Tumbles 3.71%

Nifty Metal index ended down 6.80% at 2246.05 today. The index is down 16.00% over last one month. Among the constituents, Vedanta Ltd slipped 12.68%, Jindal Steel & Power Ltd dropped 8.58% and Welspun Corp Ltd fell 7.63%. The Nifty Metal index is down 22.00% over last one year compared to the 3.79% surge in benchmark Nifty 50 index. In other indices, Nifty IT index is down 5.65% and Nifty Media index is down 5.10% on the day. In broad markets, the Nifty 50 is down 3.71% to close at 11201.75 while the SENSEX is down 3.64% to close at 38297.29 today.
