Quick Wrap: Nifty Metal Index rises 2.74%

Nifty Metal index closed up 2.74% at 2665.4 today. The index is down 4.00% over last one month. Among the constituents, Tata Steel Ltd gained 5.12%, Steel Authority of India Ltd jumped 4.84% and NMDC Ltd rose 4.69%. The Nifty Metal index is down 4.00% over last one year compared to the 10.56% surge in benchmark Nifty 50 index. In other indices, Nifty Realty index added 2.45% and Nifty Commodities index increased 1.49% on the day. In broad markets, the Nifty 50 witnessed a rise of 0.91% to close at 12089.15 while the SENSEX added 0.89% to close at 41152.24 today.
