Quick Wrap: Nifty Metal Index rises 5.60%, NIFTY jumps 1.53%

Nifty Metal index closed up 5.60% at 2320.75 today. The index is down 6.00% over last one month. Among the constituents, Vedanta Ltd gained 7.75%, Tata Steel Ltd added 6.46% and Hindalco Industries Ltd jumped 6.38%. The Nifty Metal index is down 21.00% over last one year compared to the 4.05% surge in benchmark Nifty 50 index. In other indices, Nifty Pharma index added 5.12% and Nifty PSE index gained 3.80% on the day. In broad markets, the Nifty 50 recorded a gain of 1.53% to close at 11303.3 while the SENSEX added 1.26% to close at 38623.7 today.
