Telecom shares fall
Telecom stocks were trading in the negative zone, with the S&P BSE Telecom index falling 1.95 points or 0.17% at 1121.78 at 13:48 IST.
Among the components of the S&P BSE Telecom index, ITI Ltd (down 3.79%), Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (down 3.06%), Vodafone Idea Ltd (down 2.88%), Reliance Communications Ltd (down 2.25%), Tejas Networks Ltd (down 2.05%), and Bharti Airtel Ltd (down 0.32%), were the top losers.
On the other hand, GTL Infrastructure Ltd (up 2.63%), Sterlite Technologies Ltd (up 1.93%), and Vindhya Telelinks Ltd (up 1.53%) moved up.
At 13:48 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 157.91 or 0.38% at 41610.26.
The Nifty 50 index was up 43.75 points or 0.36% at 12259.65.
The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 80.6 points or 0.57% at 14169.72.
The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 24.28 points or 0.5% at 4874.74.
On BSE,1441 shares were trading in green, 937 were trading in red and 168 were unchanged.
