Telecom stocks edge lower
Telecom stocks were trading in red, with the S&P BSE Telecom index decreasing 0.43 points or 0.05% at 886.78 at 13:48 IST.
Among the components of the S&P BSE Telecom index, Vodafone Idea Ltd (down 6.04%), ITI Ltd (down 3.48%), GTL Infrastructure Ltd (down 2.27%), OnMobile Global Ltd (down 1.3%), Sterlite Technologies Ltd (down 1.05%), and Bharti Infratel Ltd (down 0.71%), were the top losers.
On the other hand, Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (up 4.93%), Optiemus Infracom Ltd (up 4.89%), and HFCL Ltd (up 3.15%) turned up.
At 13:48 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 242.96 or 0.61% at 40294.83.
The Nifty 50 index was up 68.7 points or 0.58% at 11912.8.
The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 125.25 points or 0.93% at 13556.7.
The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 61.4 points or 1.33% at 4681.27.
On BSE,1424 shares were trading in green, 949 were trading in red and 122 were unchanged.
