At least 15 wild boars were killed near Germany's city of Freising after a car crashed into a herd of wild boars on a highway, a media report said Monday.

A 28-year-old driver was driving his car on the German highway A9 Sunday morning, when a herd of wild boars rushed across the road and got killed in the crash, Xinhua reported citing Focus Online.

The crash was so severe that the car was totally demolished, and 15 wild boars of the herd died on the scene, according to eyewitnesses.

Luckily the driver was then able to bring his vehicle under control and came to a stop on the emergency lane. He was rushed to hospital immediately.

The affected part of highway was completely closed down for half an hour, and the clean-up work took about two hours.
