At least five people were killed and 22 others were injured after a bus which had been hijacked in China's Fujian province crashed into pedestrians on a street on Tuesday, authorities said.
The incident occurred around 3.20 p.m. in Longyan city. The injured were taken to hospitals for treatment, according to Xinhua news agency.
The police cordoned two streets on the scene in Xinluo District. A witness told Xinhua that the suspect hijacked the bus and intentionally tried to crash into pedestrians.
The suspect was put under the police control and rescue work was under way.
