The Army said on Wednesday it has foiled an infiltration bid from across the Line of Control (LoC) in Kupwara district.
Defence sources said alert troops noticed suspicious movement on the LoC in Keran sector of Kupwara district.
The infiltrating group of terrorists was challenged after which an exchange of fire started in the area, the sources said.
Firing exchanges have stopped, but a search is now going on in the densely forested area to ensure that the infiltrating terrorists do not slip away, the sources added.
