Austrian couple verbally abused in Assam

An Austrian couple was verbally abused by a group of four men in upper Assam's Jorhat town, police said on Wednesday.

The incident took place around 9.30 p.m. on Tuesday, police said, adding that there was no physical assault and the couple was safe.

According to police, the victims were sleeping inside their parked vehicle near a paddy field when they were attacked.

"The couple said the men were drunk when the incident happened," police said.

"We have sheltered them at the Jorhat Circuit House and a case has been registered against the unidentified men," police said.
