Bharat Petroleum arm Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) for export of petroleum products to the neighbouring country.

The MoU was signed by NRL general manager (marketing and business development) Bruno Ekka and BPC's general manager (planning and development) Mustafa Qudrat-I-Elahi on Tuesday, an NRL spokesman said on Wednesday.

The MoU paves the way for export of petroleum products from NRL's marketing terminal in Siliguri in West Bengal to the BPC depot in Parbatipur in Bangladesh through the proposed 'Indo-Bangla Friendship Pipeline'.

The proposed pipeline will be 130-km-long and have the capacity of 1 MTPA (Million Tonnes Per Annum).
