Bible teaches solidarity with poor: Pope

Vatican City, Jan 20 (IANS/AKI) The teachings of the Bible require Christians to give succour to the poor, Pope Francis said on Twitter.

"The Gospel calls us to be close to the poor and forgotten, and to give them real hope," the Pope tweeted.

His @Pontifex account is published in nine languages and now has over 22 million followers.
