China commemorates 151st birth anniversary of Sun Yat-sen

A ceremony was held here on Sunday to commemorate the 151st birth anniversary of the of Chinese revolutionary leader Sun Yat-sen.

The event was held by the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), the country's top political advisory body, in Zhongshan Park, which is named after Sun, reports Xinhua news agency.

Born in 1866 in Guangdong province, Sun was the founder of the Kuomintang Party and is a revered revolutionary leader who played a pivotal role in overthrowing imperial rule in China.
