Congress councillor killed by elephant in Bengal

A Congress councillor was killed in an elephant attack in West Bengal's West Midnapore district on Friday, an aide said.

Koustav Banerjee, a councillor of Mindapore municipality, was hurled to death by a tusker who charged at him as he attempted to click photographs of a herd of elephants at Manikpara.

He was rushed to the Midnapore Medical College and Hospital in a serious condition and later succumbed to the injuries, a close aide said.
