Criminal arrested in Delhi after shootout

A criminal carrying a reward of Rs 50,000 on his head was arrested here after a shootout early on Wednesday, police said.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, Romil Baaniya identified the accused as 26-year-old Chand Mohammad from Uttar Pradesh. He said that a pistol and four cartridges were recovered from his possession.
Around 1.30 a.m., Chand Mohammad who was travelling on a motorcycle, was intercepted by the police near New Friends Colony area of south Delhi.
The accused resisted the arrest. He fired three rounds at the police, who also returned fire. Chand was subsequently arrested, Baaniya said.
Chand Mohammad's accomplice Zahid managed to escape during the firing.

Chand Mohammad was involved in 14 cases, including a robbery in Jamia Nagar in February during which he had fired at a person.
