The Delhi Police Wednesday launched a fleet of 24 remodelled and upgraded motorcycles to discipline errant motorists.

Each mobike, with two traffic police officers, will be deployed on arterial roads and highways to discipline the errant motorists, heavy traffic vehicles and buses during evening and night hours.

"These mobikes will also act as Quick Reaction Teams and will work in two shifts," said Delhi Police Commissioner Bhim Sain Bassi while flagging off the mobikes.

"It is a continuing process and all motorcycles, deployed in Traffic Unit shall be remodelled and upgraded, in phases, in the near future," said Anil Shukla, Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic).

These motorcycles have effective blinkers at both front and rear end, a pole-mounted blinker light at the rear for better visibility, a visor to protect the traffic policemen during winter, a siren and helmet fitted with cordless microphone and loudhailer for the officers.

They also have a charging facility for e-challan machine.
