Deposit money to refund buyers opted out of Unitech plan: SC to Greater Noida authority

The Supreme Court on Monday asked Greater NOIDA authority to deposit Rs 66.82 crore, received from realty major Unitech Limited, with apex court's registry to refund those plots buyers who have opted out of its housing schemes in the area.

A bench of Chief Justice Dipak Misra, Justice A.M. Khanwilkar and Justice D.Y. Chandrachud asked the lawyer assisting the court as an amicus curiae, to verify the names and other details of the plot applicants who wanted a refund.

It also said the aggrieved persons, who had booked plots in the Uniworld City-Uni Homes Plots Sector-MU at Greater NOIDA project in Uttar Pradesh, could approach the consumer court for redressing their grievances.

 

Around 350 people had applied for the plots in the housing scheme, Uniworld City-Uni Homes Plots Sector-MU at Greater NOIDA.

The court was hearing a batch of petitions including the one filed by Unitech Ltd and the plot buyers' association.

The court posted the matter for hearing on September 18.
