Explosion near Kandahar airport

An explosion occurred near the airport in Afghanistan's Kandahar city with an unknown number of casualties, police said.

A suicide bombing took place in Shoorandam locality when a coalition forces' convoy was passing, Xinhua news agency quoted a police officer as saying.

The site of the incident is close to a military camp and there are reports that a suicide bomber detonated his explosives shortly after the convoy left the camp, Khaama Press reported.
