Fake Indian currency notes (FICN) with face value of nearly Rs.4 lakh were seized from a railway station in West Bengal's Murshidabad district, the Border Security Force said Sunday.

The BSF and Government Railway Police (GRP) made the seizure Saturday night from a platform at Farakka railway station during a joint operation.

"The troopers charged a suspicious looking man but due to heavy crowd and darkness, he managed to escape and left behind a plastic bag. On searching it, the fake notes of face value of Rs.3.96 lakh was found," said a BSF spokesperson.

The South Bengal frontier of the BSF has seized fake Indian currency notes of face value exceeding Rs.1.60 crore so far this year.
