BJP leader in Uttar Pradesh and former basic education minister Ravindra Shukla was on Thursday attacked with acid in Jhansi city, police said.

Shukla and five of his gun-wielding security men were scalded in the attack, barely 100 metres from the Kotwali police station.

C.P. Dubey, the Kotwali police station chief, has been transferred to police lines for deriliction of duty.

A jeweller has been named in a first information report and police said that prima facie, a property dispute seems to be the reason behind the acid attack.
