At least four people, including a child, were killed and over 20 injured Friday morning when gunmen opened fire near a mosque in Pakistan's southwest city of Quetta, officials said.

Superintendent of Police Saryaab Bashir said the incident took place at around 7.20 a.m. when some gunmen started spraying bullets at people as they were coming out of a mosque after offering Eid prayer in Satellite Town of Quetta, reported Xinhua.

According to the police official, at least 26 people were injured in the incident.

Security forces, police and rescue teams rushed to the site and shifted the injured to the hospital where four of them succumbed to their injuries during treatment.

Hospital sources said the toll may rise further as at least two of the injured were in critical condition.
