France superstar football player Kylian Mbappe returned to visit his childhood club here on Wednesday for the first time since he won the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

The 19-year-old forward, who plies his club trade nowadays with French powerhouse Paris Saint-Germain, was awarded a certificate proclaiming him a citizen of honour in Bondy, a commune in the north of the French capital where he first entered the world of football as a youth player for the local team, an epa-efe photographer reported.

The young talent, who has already made his name as one of the best players in the world, played a key role in France's 2-1 victory over Germany in Tuesday evening's Nations League encounter, a display in which his blistering speed caught widespread media attention, reports Efe news agency.

Mbappe was born in Paris to a Cameroonian father who coached Bondy's squad.

He made his way through the ranks at AS Monaco before transferring to PSG on loan in 2017 before the Qatari-owned club decided to buy him.
