GHMC demolishes building of Jagan's uncle in Hyderabad

IANS Hyderabad

Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Monday demolished a building belonging to Ravindernath Reddy, maternal uncle of YSR Congress party chief Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy in posh Jubliee Hills neighborhood here.

Acting on a court direction, GHMC officials razed the two-storey building constructed on a piece of land allegedly encroached by Ravindernath Reddy, who is former mayor of Kadapa and brother-in-law of former chief minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy.

The municipal workers demolished the structure which came up on 475 square yards in Krishna Nagar area.

Neeraja Rao, who claims to be the owner of the land, said the officials acted only after the court passed the orders for demolition though it was proved in 2010 that the building was built illegally.

She alleged that Ravindernath Reddy started construction despite the court order in June 2008 in their favour. She also claimed to have received threatening calls from Ravindernath Reddy in the past.

Neeraja Rao said when she approached Jaganmohan Reddy, he refused to help and ask her to fight it legally.
