Police in Honduras have seized 743 kgs of cocaine hidden in false compartments inside a truck transporting cattle, the security secretariat announced Wednesday.
The truck was intercepted late Tuesday in the central Honduran town of Taulabe, Comayagua, but it wasn't until Wednesday that authorities were able to verify the existence of the cache, Xinhua quoted the secretariat's spokesperson Julian Hernandez as saying.
Officials, who believe that the truck may be carrying a larger quantity of the illicit drug, were still searching the vehicle, the spokesperson added.
Police have arrested the driver, Oscar Gabriel Santos, but his companion has managed to get away.
So far this year, authorities have seized more than 3 tonnes of cocaine.
