India summons heads of missions in Gulf for meeting

India's external affairs ministry has summoned all heads of Indian missions in the Gulf region for a meeting here June 29, ministry spokesman Syed Akbaruddin said Wednesday.

"The meeting is to strengthen understanding of the region," he said.

However, the envoy to Iraq has not been summoned since his presence in the country is necessary, added Akbaruddin.
