An Indian-origin businessman, Sathit Segal, a core member of the anti-government protests in Thailand, will be deported for defying the state of emergency here, a spokeswoman for the Centre for Maintaining Peace and Order said Tuesday.
The centre has already ordered the immigration department and police to commence the procedure to deport Segal, The Nation reported.
Segal has publicly and openly criticised the government of Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra in the rally organised by the opposition People's Democratic Reform Committee.
Chairman of the Thai-Indian business association, Segal led protestors in Bangkok.
On Jan 22, the caretaker government declared emergency in Bangkok and some nearby areas for two months.
Earlier Segal and four other non-Thai citizens faced deportation due to their active roles in the protests led by former Democrat member of parliament Suthep Thaugsuban.
