An Indian-origin man has been given a suspended jail term in

Britain on the charge of drug possession.

Narandraprasad Sookun, 42, has been sentenced to 12 months in jail, suspended for two years, and 200 hours of unpaid work, by a Guildford crown court in Surrey, getwestlondon.com reported.

Police found cannabis worth 5,000 pounds ($8,282) at his home in Hayes in west London in August last year.

He was convicted for illegal drug possession Feb 26 after a five-day trial.

Sookun had claimed before officers and a jury at Isleworth crown court that weighing scales found with cannabis at his home were for making fairy cakes.
