Japan raises volcano alert for Mount Hakone

Japanese authorities on Tuesday raised the volcano alert at Mount Hakone in Kanagawa Prefecture from level two to level three, indicating a possible eruption.
The Japan Meteorological Agency has issued an evacuation advisory in the area within a one km radius of the Hakone area, Xinhua reported.
The higher alert restricts people from entering the area.
Mount Hakone last erupted 2,900 years ago.
