The Lebanese army Sunday arrested a Syrian rebel leader at a checkpoint in the eastern border town of Arsal, media reported.
Colonel Abdullah Rifai, head of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) Command Council for the Qalamoun region, was arrested at an army checkpoint in Arsal, Xinhua reported citing the National News Agency.
He disguised as a woman and carried a fake Lebanese identity while riding a car to cross the border, the reported said.
FSA is an umbrella group of mainstream rebels fighting to topple Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and now have a heavy presence around Arsal since jihadi rebels flooded the town in early August.
