"Five over ground workers (OGWs) of LeT militant outfit were arrested from a vehicle transporting arms and ammunition in Hajin area of Bandipora district," a police spokesman said here.

According to police, a check post was laid by a joint team of police and army on Khusarpora Hajin axis after inputs about the movement of a private car transporting arms and ammunition.

"The input was received through cultivated human sources that an Wagon-R vehicle is roaming in between Chandergeer, Hajin, Shahgund and Gundjahangeer areas, carrying militants/OGWs and their illegal arms and ammunition," said the spokesman.

During the checking, a white coloured car, bearing registration number JK15-6569, was intercepted and its five occupants, including the driver, questioned, he said.

"The extensive search of the vehicle and personal search of the persons boarding the vehicle was conducted and 10 grenades were recovered. Besides, two AK-47 magazines and 27 rounds of AK rifle were also recovered from the vehicle.

"All the accused persons were taken in custody and vehicle was seized," said the spokesman, adding that during preliminary investigation, the arrested persons revealed that they were working for LeT as OGWs.
